Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is replacing the via Ferrata climbing wire in Jebel Shams in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate for the convenience of
climbers.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with the Oman Hiking team carrying replacing the old pillars with new ones that are safer for climbers. The climbing wire is 80 metres high, while the climbing path is 120 metres long.
The Oman Hiking team, in partnership with the tourism committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, has been maintaining the iron climbing wire, with the approval of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and under the technical supervision of the Royal Army of Oman.
The Oman Hiking team said that a number of accidents had taken place due to the presence of sharp pegs that were replaced by U pegs, which are considered safe for adventurers.
