Chief Technology Officer
Responsibilities
Divisional Strategy Development and Implementation
Develop and direct the implementation of the divisional strategy ensuring alignment to the unit strategy, ASYAD’s vision, mission and corporate objectives.
Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to ASYAD leadership on all related areas to facilitate the achievement of ASYAD’s strategy and divisional strategies.
Leadership
Manage the effective achievement of divisional objectives through effective leadership and by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating team to maximise performance.
Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned division, collaborating with discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
Budgeting and Financial Performance
Oversee the consolidation and recommend the divisional budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/ revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.
Group Innovation and Technology Strategy
Identify innovation and technology opportunities for ASYAD, aligned with corporate strategy and assess the feasibility of prioritised opportunities.
Based on the assessment, develop a comprehensive group innovation and technology strategy and a technology implementation plan and assign execution ownership.
Develop group technology policies (e.g. IT security, data center, etc.) to enable the implementation of the technology strategy.
Define comprehensive technology requirements for the group and drive the business case for the same.
Collaborate with the National Logistics Strategy department to define, detail, and implement the group logistics strategy and related digital technology projects led by ASYAD corporate center.
Technology Projects
Collaborate effectively with technology executives in wholly-owned subsidiaries to define and drive business technology projects across the Group.
Lead the decision-making for investment in disruptive technology ventures, consistent with overall group technology strategy.
Manage the implementation of Group-wide technology projects and Operation Company specific technology projects including technology selection.
Technology Solutions and Infrastructure
Validate overall investment plan and individual business cases for investment in IT infrastructure and applications, supported by Finance and Procurement departments
Ensure management of solution requirements and user expectations relating to technology services.
Oversee the management of IT security for the ASYAD Group and the operating companies.
Direct the operations of corporate IT systems, their performance and maintenance and related vendor management.
Oversee management, monitoring and control of employee hardware, system access as well as ICT helpdesk.
National Technology Program Development and Implementation
Develop and grow the Logistics Technology Program, and contribute to SOLS 2040 overall strategic vision, to effect positive improvement across all four pillars and ensure Oman’s logistics ambitions are achieved.
Develop and drive the implementation of long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the Program.
Support the Logistics Technology Program Manager and implementation team with translating the long-term goals and objectives into targeted projects and activities that:
1- Establish, support and encourage research into transport and logistics technologies that will improve Oman’s global competitive advantage
2- Identify Oman’s technologically competitive challenges and opportunities,
3- Analyse available technology data and needs
4- Identify and adopt the best and most appropriate logistics technologies to meet these needs
5- Set and monitor technical standards according to best international practice and GCC regulation
6-Cause standards to be adopted within Oman by practice or legislation
7-Create a system(s) that enables accountability, improved transparency and visibility across the management of supply chain processes
8-Optimises the use of transport infrastructure in alignment with demand
9-Enable increased care, speed and handling of cargo through supply chain automation, systems coordination and integration
Provide ongoing expert and specialist input in areas of technology, systems integration, and operational aspects of freight logistics technology use to Program Manager(s) and team as and when needed.
Oversee the definition, planning coordination and resourcing of targeted projects and activities in line with the overall strategic plan and budget to optimise impact.
Oversee and support the Logistics Technology program manager with rolling out all projects and activities in line with the policies and procedures of the organisation and with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
Develop and lead the implementation of the divisional policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned functional so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
Change Management
Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of divisional systems, processes and practices taking into account global standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
Reporting
Provide executive leadership and stakeholders with key insights and feedback on various analyses in the form of reports, to facilitate informed decision-making and strategy formulation.
Ensure that all divisional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet ASYAD requirements, policies and quality standards.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related subject
Post-graduate degree in computer science or Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
Professional qualification / certification from related IT professional body is preferred
Experience
15 years of relevant experience, including exposure at an executive level
Skills
Excellent analytical skills (focus on strategic and conceptual thinking)
Strong leadership and managerial skills
Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
Strong people development skills (management, coaching and mentoring)
Computer programming and database management in preferred
