Roads Engineer
Essential requirements
• A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 5 years post qualification experience in the design and engineering of roads
• Knowledge and understanding of the relevant highway standards and procedures
• A working knowledge of highway standards and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement
• Capable of discussing engineering issues and identifying solutions
• Asset Management knowledge, including AutoCAD, ArcGIS or other open source GIS proficiency will be advantageous
• English language, strong technical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Key responsibilities include
• Road design engineering
• Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems, and identifying of options
• Development of project scopes/briefs
• Support in preparing tender document’s/BoQ’s, tendering and selection process
• Roads Asset Management Functions
• Working with Subcontractors, checking RAMS and Safe Systems of working
• Carry out Site Safety Inspections
• Support in Contract Administration
