Muscat: The Ministry of Health has issued a report on the number of deaths and morbidity resulting from Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) according to the vaccination status in the Sultanate of Oman.
The report said 94 percent of the total population of the Sultanate of Oman targeted for vaccination from the age of 12 years and above received at least one dose of vaccines, while the percentage of those who received two doses of vaccines is 87 percent.
The report said the Sultanate of Oman recorded 313,538 confirmed cases of Covid-19, while the total number of deaths recorded to date is 4,122.
The recovery rate is 96.5 percent as of Monday.
The report showed a decrease in the number of deaths and morbidity (inpatients) resulting from Covid-19 in the Sultanate of Oman, compared to the vaccination coverage rate.
The report shows a noticeable decrease in the number of deaths and inpatients as the vaccination campaign covered all sections of society.
The figure also that as the vaccination coverage improves, lower is the number of deaths and inpatients in hospitals.
The Ministry of Health also clarified the percentage of deaths and morbidity due to Covid-19 as per the vaccination status in the Sultanate of Oman.
MOH said that about 90 percent of the deaths reported were among the unvaccinated group, while it was noted that the death rate among the vaccinated group was very low
7.5 -percent for those vaccinated with one dose and 2.5 percent for those vaccinated with two doses.
As for morbidity, its percentage for the unvaccinated was about 89 percent of the total inpatients, while these percentages did not exceed 7 percent for those vaccinated with one dose of vaccinations and 2.5 percent for those vaccinated with two doses.
Despite the noticeable decrease in the rates of deaths and inpatients due to the Covid-19 virus among the two-dose vaccinated group, according to what studies have shown, it is possible to reduce these percentages further to reach their lowest levels, by taking the booster dose.
