Two fuel ships enter Port of Hodeidah, first time since three months

Sanaa: Two fuel ships docked at the Port of Hodeidah, which is under the control of the Houthis, in western Yemen for the first time in three months, according to Sanaa authorities.

The move comes as part of a two-month truce that began last Saturday.

Houthi-controlled areas in northern Yemen, especially the capital, Sanaa, have witnessed a stifling fuel crisis for months.

Last Saturday, a two-month, extendable truce entered into force, according to the announcement made by Hans Grundberg, UN Special Envoy for Yemen.

The warring parties have not reported any confrontations or violence since the truce came into effect.

Terms of the truce agreement included facilitating the entry of 18 ships carrying fuel to the Port of Hodeidah and allowing two weekly flights to and from Sanaa Airport for the first time since 2016.
