Rome: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 84th congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), which was held in Rome, Italy on Tuesday and attended by delegates from 161 associations from around the world.
The AIPS—from French “association internationale de la presse sportive”—looked into the Young Journalists Initiative, presented jointly with the International Olympic Committee under the theme of “The Road to Paris 2024 and the Press Operations Report for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 “. It also discussed status of women’s football in Europe.
During the congress, Oman’s candidate Ahmed Saif al Kaabi—the representative of Oman Journalists Association (OJA)—was acclaimed member of the Executive Office of the Asian Sports Journalists’ Union for 2022/2026.
The selection of Oman’s candidate came after consensus within the Asian continent to name Board of Directors of Asian Sports Journalists’ Union.
The AIPS is the most prominent body representing international sports media and comprising more than 9,500 members worldwide. The AIPS was founded in Paris in 1924 and is based at the Olympic capital of Lausanne, Switzerland.
