Muscat: The tropical depression in the Arabian Sea is likely to intensify and move west to northwest along the coasts of India and Pakistan without any direct impact on Oman for the next 48 hours, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
“The National Multi Hazards Early Warning Centre weather analysis indicates that a tropical depression has been observed north east of the Arabian Sea on Thursday, located at longitude 68.2 E and latitude 22.3 N with an estimated surface wind speed around the centre between 17 – 27 knots which is 31-50 km/hour,” CAA said in report No.1 on weather over the Arabian Sea.
The tropical depression is expected to intensity and move west to northwest along the coasts of India and Pakistan with chance of clouds advection over the northern governorates and will have no direct impact over the Sultanate in the next 48 hours.
Sea state will be moderate to rough along coasts of the Arabian Sea. South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with wave height ranging from 3 to 4 metres and moderate to rough between 1.5 to 3 along Oman Sea coastal areas starting from October 1, 2021. There are chances of rainfall over the northern governorates of Oman.
The authority advises all to check the sea state before setting sail and follow the issued weather bulletins and reports.
