Muscat Governorate is witnessing very heavy rains due to the direct effects of the cyclone Shaheen, with official reports confirming the overflowing of Wadi Udai, Wadi Al Khuwair, to be followed by most of the other wadis.
Sever people were rescued after rainwater entered their house in the Wilayat of Muttrah and they are in good health, the officials said.
The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority said that the rescue teams responded to (9) reports about the detention of people in their vehicles in the Governorate of Muscat as a result of heavy rains resulting from the effects of the tropical situation (Shaheen), and managed to rescue (25) people, all of whom are in good health.
A number of incoming and outgoing flights at Muscat International Airport have been rescheduled by the national airline.
The National Committee for Emergency Management reported a disruption in the transmission line (1600) feeding the Seeb area from Barka. The Seeb tanks will be fed from the Al Ghubra pumping station.

Updated six hours ago, the latest satellite images and weather charts analysis at the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center indicated that the tropical cyclone (SHAHEEN) located at longitude 59.3.7 °E and latitude 24.2°N.
“The tropical cyclone continues to move towards the coastal areas of Oman Sea with estimated surface wind speed around the center 64 knots (116 km/hr). The center of the cyclone is about 130 km away from Muscat Governorate.”
The cyclone is expected to continue in its movement toward the coast of North Al Batinah.
The direct impacts will starts today Sunday morning time including strong winds (40-60) knots and heavy rain ranging between 200 and 500 millimeters causing severe flash floods over Governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhliyah and the coastal areas of South Al Sharqiyah.
The influences may extend to the Governorates of Musandam, North Al Sharqiya with isolated rain (30-80) millimeters and heavy to moderate winds (15-25 knots).
Sea condition is expected to be very rough over the coastal areas between South Al-Sharqiya to Musandam Governorates with maximum wave height ranging between 8 and 12 meters. In addition storm surge might cause seawater inundation over low-level coastal areas. The sea state will be moderate to rough along the rest of Omani coasts with a maximum wave height between 2 and 3 meters.
