Vice President – Business Development – Middle East, Defence

An exciting opportunity has arisen to influence and shape the future of the Rolls-Royce Defence business in the Middle East. The role will provide the successful candidate an opportunity to develop valuable expertise in leadership and direction as well as shaping of regional business agenda and future growth strategy.

The position will be based in Muscat, Oman and will require some travel. A significant element of the role will be to establish and develop key stakeholder relationships across the region to originate and secure new business and strategically position Defence for future growth in these markets. In this role, the successful candidate will also assume the position of General Manager of Rolls-Royce Oman LLC overseeing the governance and delivery of its existing and future contractual obligations.At Rolls-Royce, innovation is in our DNA. Our Defence business powers over 160 armed forces across 100 countries. Rolls-Royce Defence is a market leader in aero engines for military transport and patrol aircraft with strong positions in combat and helicopters systems. Our Naval expertise provides advanced system solutions for customers world-wide and we are the technical authority for the through-life support of the nuclear power plant for the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.

What We Are Looking For

• A proven track record of leadership and relevant industry experience and a thorough understanding of the market.
• A strategic, entrepreneurial and innovative thinker comfortable nurturing change.
• Someone who is self-aware and mindful, caring and inspiring other people.
• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and relentless hunger to win right.
• A strong communicator (multilingual with Arabic preferred) who can interact across all levels in an organisation and build high-value relationships internally, externally and globally.
• The ability to influence company policy and promote innovation.
• An enterprise thinker with the ability to synthesise complex situations and formulate a simple way forward.
• An ability to drive collaborative leadership and experience interfacing with and influencing senior external and internal stakeholders.
• Someone who is intensely curious and continuously improves business understanding and personal performance.
• Higher education degree preferably in either Business Administration or Engineering. MBA is perceived as an advantage.
  

The Role

• Define and execute the growth strategy for Defence in assigned markets.
• Identify, originate and secure new business opportunities and deliver order intake and cash targets.
• Establish a thorough understanding of Middle East defence markets and customers and rigorously capture insights to improve business positioning and competitiveness.
• Manage Rolls-Royce Oman LLC governance activity and maintain compliance and delivery of contractual obligations starting with Typhoon EJ200 availability.
• Oversee all Rolls-Royce personnel in Oman and drive performance and lead professional development of the Business Development personnel.
