Shura regular sessions begin today

MUSCAT: Majlis Ash’shura’s regular meetings of the third annual session (2021-2022) of the ninth term begin today.

The council will elect the members of the Office of Majlis Ash’shura for the remaining half term.

This was stated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura.

Al Nadabi said that the second meeting will discuss the plans of the standing committees, adding that the committees have drawn up their plans as per the purviews of each committee particularly those relating to the legislations, oversight tools, and the messages and addresses referred by the Office of Majlis Ash’shura.

The agenda for the second meeting includes discussions on the report of the Economic and Financial Committee regarding the reorientation of electricity and water subsidy for the citizens and the economic sectors, applying the value-added tax on electricity and water bills.

The council will also discuss the committee’s report on the economic incentives for the small and medium enterprises.

The meeting will also discuss the conditions of the Oman Food Investment Holding Company, Al Nadabi said.

The council will be briefed on the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2022, which was recently transferred from the government and is currently under study by the Economic and Financial Committee.

The council will be briefed about a draft agreement between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of Hungary on the encouragement and mutual protection of investments, and a draft agreement to regulate air transport services between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Al Nadabi said.
