أعلن كلية عمان البحرية الدولية عن توفر شاغر وظيفي لديها بمسمى : Dean

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Prepare and present Business Plan of the Institute to the board for approval which shall cover short, medium and long term forecasts.
Convene Board meeting every quarter or as and when due to prepare, present and discuss key performances of the Institute including but not limited to operating and financial results of the Institute and report results to the Chairman of Board of Directors.
Establish the annual budget guidelines for the Institute with the approval of the Board of Directors and review and approve annual plans prepared by the department heads, including the operating budgets, staffing plans, marketing plans and capital expenditures.
Develop and propose for the approval of the Board of Directors a plan for academic course design and administrative actions / financial outlays in tune with the strategic objectives of IMCO
Supervise the implementation of the academic and training plans, and work towards accomplishing them within the time framework. Prepare annual budget for the Institute and submit it to the Board for approval.
Monitor the academic programs, examinations and discipline in coordination with the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Heads of the departments. Issue internal decisions necessary for the smooth running of the Institute.
Prepare a comprehensive progress report for each semester on the programs and performance, in addition to an annual report on the educational affairs and Institute activities to be submitted to Board of Directors.
Ensure that the academic programs meet the requirements of international organisations, local business and industry and maintain a profile of the Institute that would project it as an upcoming leader in maritime education.
Specify Institute’s need for teaching and technical staff, recommend their appointments after the approval of the Board of Directors and work towards complementing Institute needs for infrastructure, equipment, facilities, books, etc. Manage the selection of personnel, development, motivation and cooperation of personnel, as required.
Assess the performance of Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Deputy Dean Administration and Finance Affairs and HODs. Endorse staff appraisal forms prepared by the department heads, recommending promotions, termination of their service contracts, in consultation with concerned reporting head of departments.
Chair various management committees and examination committee, organize their work and ensure the implementation of their decisions.
Monitor the support services at IMCO in coordination with Deputy Dean for Administration and Finance Affairs and safeguard IMCO property.
Maintain good public relations to enlist support and appreciation for IMCO from shipping companies like IMO and other stakeholders in maritime education and maintain a profile of IMCO that would project it as an upcoming leader in maritime education.
Form, promote and effectively use the alumni of IMCO for continuously improving its performance.
Carrying out any other duties assigned by the Board.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Holds a PhD degree.
To be academically qualified, and have an administrative and academic experience that is suitable for the disciplines offered in the institution.
The candidate’s academic qualification should not be less than an associate professor, yet Omanis can be exempt from this conditions after the Minister’s approval.
Have an administrative experience in the same field for not less than three years in one of the recognized universities or colleges. However, Omanis may be exempt from years of experience when necessary after the Minister’s approval.

SKILLS:

Listen, write, and speak effectively; inform, explain, and give instructions.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to deal with staff and stockholders of all levels and external candidates.
Manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
Good communication skills – written and spoken Arabic and English.
Maintain confidential information.
Work independently and as a member of a team.
Work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to understand business strategies, tactics and implement measurable research plans is recommended.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
Service oriented attitude
