MSM index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,061.36 points, down 0.10 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.37 per cent at 547.13 points.

Renaissance Services was the top gainer, up by 2.33 per cent, while Oman United Insurance, down 7.19 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Vision Insurance were the most active in terms of number of shares traded while that of OIFC were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 553 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR2.98 million, with more than 20.88 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 11 advanced, 14 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR35,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR22,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR13,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,441.18 points, down 0.47 per cent. Vision Insurance, Bank Dhofar, and Bank Dhofar were up by 2.25 per cent, 1.50 per cent, and 0.40 per cent respectively. Oman United Insurance, Al Sharqiya Investments, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Madina Takaful, and United Finance were down 7.19 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 2.15 per cent, 2.06 per cent, and 1.85 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,114.11 points, up 0.09 per cent. National Aluminium Products, Oman Cement, and Raysut Cement were up by 1.50 per cent, 0.42 per cent, and 0.40 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.09 per cent before closing at 1,617.65 points. Renaissance Services, Al Suwadi Power, Oman National Engineering, and OIFC were up by 2.33 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.09 per cent, and 0.74 per cent respectively. Muscat City Desalination, Dhofar Generating Company, and Ooredoo Oman, were down by 3.13 per cent, 2.70 per cent, and 1.63 per cent respectively.
