Paris: The 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), concluded at the UNESCO headquarters in the French capital, Paris, on Wednesday.
The Sultanate’s delegation was headed by Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education and Chairperson of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by a number of authorities related to the tasks and purviews of UNESCO, obtained membership of some specialized committees.
The Ministry of Information won the membership of the Intergovernmental Council of the UNESCO’s International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), for a 4-year term.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, obtained the membership of the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS), for a 4-year term. — ONA
