Lonely Planet has ranked the Sultanate of Oman as one among world’s must-visit countries to visit in 2022.
In its newly released ‘Best In Travel 2022’ book, the major Australian Travel Guide publisher places Oman on the 7th position in the list of countries to visit next year.
“The Sultanate of Oman is a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Oman offers a view of unique heritage, forts and castles. Oman is famous for its irrigation system and some fascinating tourist attractions”, remarks the publisher.
The Sultanate of Oman is the only country from the Arabian Gulf to be included on that list of the book.
The 17th edition of Lonely Planet’s book lists the world’s hottest destinations and places particular emphasis on sustainable travel choices – ensuring a positive impact as travellers return to the road.
“After a long halt due to global coronavirus outbreak, many are ready to re-engage with the world and travel again,” the publisher notes in the introduction of the book.
The other must-visit countries listed in the book are Egypt, Malawi, Nepal, Anguilla, Slovenia, Belize, Mauritius, Norway and Cook Islands. Among the top ten, six are American cities while three are from the GCC.
Lonely Planet ranked Cook Islands in the South Pacific the top destination for its adventure, cultural interaction and culinary delights.
Egypt, which is home to the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the world, is the 10th top country to visit.
“Egypt is famous for its ancient civilisation, mesmerising beaches, coral reefs, and sea and river cruises”, the report adds.
Last month, in a study by British finance site Money named Muscat is among the top ten cities in the world ideal for relocation. Among the top ten, six are American cities while three are from the GCC.
The study analysed factors that are often taken into consideration when deciding where to relocate, including house prices, living costs, average salary, weather conditions, number of restaurants and green spaces, Internet speed and life expectancy.
