MERA issues guidelines for prayers in mosques

Muscat – The the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) said that as per the decisions of the Supreme Committee, Friday prayers have been stopped between January 23 and February 5.

Five daily prayers continue to be held in mosques provided that the number of worshipers does not exceed 50 percent of the capacity Capacity, according to previously announced guidelines by the Ministry of Health.

It also announced that the study of the Quran in schools affiliated to MERA will be through the distance education system, or reducing the capacity to 50 percent of the school’s total strength as per the terms of the competent authorities.

The number of employees who are required to come to workplaces at MERA will be 50 percent of the total staff strength, provided that employees who are required not to come to workplaces perform the dutyonline.
