MUSCAT: The organising committee of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design affirmed that the shields designated for the top three winners were designed and inspired from the local environment and the authentic components of Omani architecture to deliver a message linking the award with the targeted environment.
The shields will be presented to the top three winners in digital copies using the NFT (non-fungible token) technology for the first time in the region and the Arab world and in line with the Sultanate of Oman’s digital transformation strategy.
NFT is a unique unit of data employing technology that transforms any physical object from videos to songs to images into digital content using the same blockchain technology that powers cryptocurrencies thus serving as a unique identifier that can cryptographically assign and prove ownership of digital goods.
