MUSCAT: The fifth edition of Al Bashayer Festival for Arab Camel Racing will start on Monday at the Al Bashayer camel racing field in Adam, with a participation of nearly 5,000 camel owners from Oman and GCC countries. The annual camel race will last for six days.
The Department of Al Bashayer Square for Arab Camels has completed the preparations for this festival, which will include 74 races over six days in mornings and evenings.
Prizes in offer are 25 cars, 16 symbols and golden sword.
Accompanying activities will be held during the festival period, including various section with the participation of governmental, private and local people, which are the exhibitions corner, the traditional village corner, the children’s village corner, the musical and poetic corner, the scientific tent corner, paragliding and motorcycle shows, traditional weapons shooting competition, and others.
The first day of the race is dedicated for young category ‘Hagayeg’ in 16 races with cash prizes for top 10 places in the morning. In the afternoon there are eight races with car prizes for the first place.
