Omani official denies rumours about PCR test cancellation for those travelling through ports

Muscat: The news circulated in social media platforms about the non-implementation of the Supreme Committee’s decision regarding cancelling the PCR examination for travellers through the Omani land ports is incorrect, an official said.

An informed official confirmed that what is being circulated about the non-implementation of the Supreme Committee’s decision regarding cancelling the PCR examination at Oman’s land ports is incorrect and said : “The Supreme Committee’s decision is clear, and the Sultanate of Oman has several land entry ports, therefore the entry procedures differ according to the procedures followed by the port administration of the country to which a person may be travelling to. Some of them require a PCR examination certificate and some do not.”

“The entry procedures through the Sultanate’s land ports are clear, as no PCR examination is required, according to what the Supreme Committee issued yesterday evening, which allowed everyone who received two doses of one of the approved vaccines to enter the Sultanate of Oman without the need to PCR examination,” the official added.

He also called on travellers departing from the Sultanate through various land ports to verify the country they are travelling to in the event of requesting a PCR examination or not, and said :” The Omani ports do not require the PCR test upon entering the Sultanate of Oman, but it is a requirement for some countries to which travellers are heading. The traveller must check the procedures of the country he is travelling to.”

The clarification came after a post was circulated on social media today stating that the decision to cancel the PCR examination for those who received two doses and heading to the United Arab Emirates through Omani land ports has not been implemented so far.
