5 local Omani firms win prestigious ICV awards

The first set of In-Country Value (ICV) awards instituted in honour of the Raoul Restucci, former Managing Director of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), were handed out on Tuesday, at a ceremony held under the auspices of Qais bin Mohammed al Yousuf, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. In attendance at the event, among other dignitaries, was Restucci, who is credited with introducing the ICV concept in Oman’s oilfield sector and overseeing its successful rollout across the energy industry.

The winners of the Raoul Restucci Award for In-Country Value (RICVA Awards), previously known as the ICV Awards, went to: Arabian Industries Clad LLC (Best Local Manufacturing Facility); Al Shawamikh Oil Services SAOC (Best National Objectives Employer); Al Baraka Oilfield Services (Best Contractor in ICV Delivery); Al Ghalbi International (Best Performing Local Community Contractor); and Rihal – Data Migration and Services LLC (Best Performing SME).

PDO, the biggest energy producer in the Sultanate of Oman, hosted the awards to mark the 10th anniversary of the launch of the ICV programme. The initiative is credited with achieving unparalleled success throughout the past 10 years by maximising the total spend retained in the country to benefit business development, contribute to human capability development and stimulate productivity in the Omani economy.

Speaking on the occasion, PDO Managing Director Steve Phimister said: “This is truly a special event recognising the excellence of our partners who contribute to ICV and support a positive and competitive business culture where the words “local content” are a badge of distinction. We look forward to continued collaboration with our contractors and fellow operators to ramp up our efforts and achieve the full potential within ICV as we continue our journey and maintain momentum.”

He further added: “We have new themes that our ICV strategy will focus on to accommodate shifts in the industry over the coming years including Technology, Digitalisation and Energy Transition.”

Also on the occasion, PDO unveiled the first phase of the “Rakhaa” digital platform which aims to build the capabilities of young Omanis and provide opportunities in the field of content creation. The platform will connect freelancers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with local customers including government and private institutions and individuals who will be able to request for relevant services through the same platform.
