Oman records several dengue fever cases

Muscat: Seven dengue fever cases have been recorded  in the Wilayat of Bausher, Muscat Governorate, an official from the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, said in an interview with Oman TV that there have been seven  cases of dengue fever recorded so far in the Governorate of Muscat, specifically in the Wilayat of Bausher.

“This is not the first time that dengue fever cases have recorded in the Sultanate of Oman, as cases have been recorded in 2020 and 2019 in the Governorates of Muscat and Dhofar,” His Excellency added. Dengue fever is transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

“Dengue is an acute, sudden viral disease that begins with a fever lasting three to five days, and may be accompanied by severe headaches and pain in the joints and muscles.”
