The GCC Group issued a statement before the United Nations general assembly’s emergency session on Ukraine, reaffirming His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s proclamation that “GCC states are following up with deep concern the deteriorating situation in the Republic of Ukraine”.
The GCC Group—of Arab Gulf Cooperation Council states—urged the parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine war to return to diplomacy and resort to dialogue and peaceful negotiations based on the established principles of the International Law and the UN Charter.
The statement pointed out that the GCC Group welcomes the efforts undertaken by the United Nations to reach a peaceful and sustainable settlement for the crisis.
The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr. Mohammed Awadh Al Hassan, Oman’s Permanent Representative at the UN in New York.
