MAHDHA: As per the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, to establish the economic zone in Al Rowdha in the Wilayat of Mahdha, the Governorate of Al Buraimi, ministers, accompanied by officials, on Sunday visited the site proposed for establishing the zone. They viewed the potentials enjoyed by Al Rowdha.
The governor of Al Buraimi, accompanied by ministers and senior officials, toured the site on board a helicopter. This was followed by a meeting at the Niyabat of Al Rowdha Police Station during which Col Saif bin Rashid al Kalbani presented a briefing about the niyabat, the roads linking it to the surrounding areas and some suggestions related to road projects. The Minister of Finance affirmed the importance of identifying the types of the activities of the economic zone in order to set the priorities and feasibility of the road projects.
The officials also made a field visit to the Niyabat of Al Rowdha and inspected a number of sites including locations proposed for agricultural projects. They also inspected Al Rowdha crossing (B) and discussed several customs-related issues and inspected the facilities of the crossing and the procedures to be handled after its opening.
The delegation comprised Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones; Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources; Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning; Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy; Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Farsi, Wali of Mahdha; Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad al Maawali, Deputy Wali of Mahdha at Niyabat Al Rowdha and other officials. — ONA
