Muscat: The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 on Tuesday has announced measures to prevent the spread of the virus during the month of Ramadhan.
On the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, the Supreme Committee extended the wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Omani people and residents of the Sultanate.
The committee also briefed on the epidemiological situation of the pandemic (Covid 19) locally and globally, which continued to decline in the Sultanate of Oman, despite a noticeable spike in infections in some countries.
The Supreme Committee has taken the following decisions to be implemented throughout the month of Ramadhan.
1. Restricting attendance for congregational prayers, including Taraweeh prayers, to only those who have received the Covid-19 vaccine, and prohibiting the entry of non-vaccinated persons, including children under the age of twelve.
2. Prohibiting holding charitable iftars(mass iftars), in mosques, and other public places, such as tents and majlis.
3. Continuing to follow preventive measures, such as wearing face masks, and physical distancing in closed places, including at mosques.
4. The committee emphasizes the continuation of operating the activities of international and local halls, conferences and exhibitions, and activities of a public nature, at 70% of its capacity.
It called on everyone who shows any respiratory symptoms to avoid attending group prayers and gatherings of all kinds, to protect him and his community.
It urged citizens and residents to receive the booster dose of the Covid 19 vaccine for those who have completed six months of taking the second dose.
