Muscat: The concerned departments of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in South Baitinah have installed signboards at the popular tourist destination of Wadi Al Hoqain in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq to avoid drowning accidents.
It may be noted that an Asian expatriate woman died in a drowning incident at Wadi Al Hoqain in February.
Following reports of tourists getting trapped in strong water currents, the authorities have installed signboards to create awareness and warn tourists about the dangers of getting drowned in the area.
Surrounded by natural waterfalls and pools, Wadi Al Hoqain is a popular picnic destination for citizens, residents, and foreign tourists.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in South Al Batinah Governorate, in cooperation with the Department of Civil Defence and Ambulance, have been creating awareness among its employees on the need to have first aid facilities at castles, forts, and other tourist sites.
