Muscat: The Supreme Committee is reviewing the latest developments on Covid-19 at the national level during the 29th press conference.
It may be noted that the Supreme Committee had announced a series of measures in the wake of the holy month of Ramadhan that begins next week.
The speakers are Dr. Ahmed Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health; Dr.Adel Said al Wahaibi, director of the epidemiological surveillance department and Bader Saif al Rawahi, director of communicable diseases.

Minister of Health:
- Only 10% of the citizens in the target groups have received booster doses.
- The pandemic is still ongoing and we can’t declare its end
- Traveling to the European Union requires a booster vaccination for those who have completed 6 months from the last dose.
- 96% of those admitted to intensive care never received the vaccination or only one dose.
- Yesterday, the number of registered cases of dengue fever reached 17 in the Wilayat of Bausher, 7 in the Wilayat of Seeb, and two in the Wilayat of Amerat.
- Only 24% have received the third dose of the Corona vaccine
- We appeal to all to get rid of stagnant water bodies in their homes to prevent creating breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
- Medicine and medical equipment manufacturing companies have been affected by the pandemic. Oman has a strategic stockpile that is sometimes resorted to. There are enough medicines in Oman to contribute to saving lives.
- We appeal to citizens and residents to get rid of stagnated water in their homes, which will help to avoid the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
- Fatigue, exhaustion led to several resignations in the health sector, both citizens and expatriates. Therefore, we will face some challenges on the manpower front.

- There are studies to give the second (fourth) booster dose to reduce the complications of the disease
- Booster dose raises immunity from 75 to 80%
- Among the priorities of the Ministry of Health is to vaccinate children from 5 to 11 years old.
