Muscat: To avoid a hypoglycemic coma or death during fasting, the Ministry of Health called on diabetic patients to monitor their sugar levels closely during the fasting period and advised people to break their fast for those whose sugar level drops below 3.9 mmol/litre.
The Ministry said in an advisory: “Dear diabetic patient, it is advised to monitor the level of glucose in the blood during the time of fasting, and to break the fast immediately during the day in Ramadan if your blood glucose measurement is less than 3.9 mmol / liter, to avoid complications of low blood sugar such as entering into a hypoglycemic coma or death.”
