The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs has called on worshippers to abide by the decisions of the Supreme Committee during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Muscat:  The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs  has called on worshippers to abide by the decisions of the Supreme Committee during the Holy Month of Ramadan, after it was observed that some did not adhere to the prescribed procedures during Friday prayer and Tarawih prayer.

In a statement , the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs said: “The Ministry noted that some worshipers are not adhering to the established procedures. Therefore, it calls upon the masses of worshippers in mosques to adhere to the decisions of the Supreme Committee in the public interest and to preserve the safety of citizens and residents on this blessed land.”

Based on what was decided by the Supreme Committee in charge of examining a mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the corona virus (COVID-19) regarding the procedures during the blessed month of Ramadan, which included the following:

First: Restricting attendance for congregational prayers, including Taraweeh prayers, to recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine, and prohibiting the entry of non-vaccinated persons, including children under the age of twelve.

Second: Continuing to ban the establishment of charitable collective iftar tables at mosques and other public places.

Third: Continuing to work with preventive measures, such as wearing face masks, and physical distancing in closed places, including mosques.

The ministry requests the deputies of mosques, imams and preachers of the obligation to abide by these decisions and circulars and urge the masses to apply physical distancing and to wear a mask while performing the prayers, including Friday prayers and Taraweeh prayers; to avoid public action to ensure the safety and health of people.
