Muscat: The firefighting and rescue team of Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) managed to douse a fire that erupted in a dhow at the Port of Khasab.
Two crew members of the dhow were injured and they were provided with necessary medical treatment.
CDAA said in a tweet “The firefighting and rescue team in the Musandam Governorate responded to a report of a fire in a wooden boat of the type “dhow” in the Port of Khasab. The team, in cooperation with Musandam Police Command and the Royal Air Force of Oman, were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to ships anchored in the port. As a result of the accident, two crew members of the dhow sustained injuries, and were received emergency medical care, and were rushed to the hospital with light injuries. The Authority calls on ship owners and their crew to abide by safety procedures in order to avoid such incidents.
