Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Oman Broadband Company signed an agreement for setting up the inactive fibre optic infrastructure for the integrated neighbourhoods initiative ‘Surouh’.
As per the agreement, Oman Broadband Company will establish, operate and lease the inactive fibre optic and communications infrastructures. The step aims to provide communications and fibre optic services in all facilities that require a connection to the internet.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing and Said Abdullah Al Mandhari, Chairman of Oman Broadband Company.
Eng. Saud Al Hashimi, Director General of Real Estates Development in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said that the agreement comes within the framework of providing services for the ‘Surouh’ initiative.
Al Hashimi added that three new integrated neighbourhood projects will be established within the ‘Surouh’ initiative in Al Amirat, Bidbid and Halban. Those initiatives will contribute to reducing the cost of housing units and making them accessible for all people.
