Muscat:The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC) has launched Liver Surgery (LIVES) Registry.
Being the first of its kind in Oman, Liver Surgery (LIVES) Registry comprises a number of local and GCC medical centres.
Dr. Abdullah Yahya Al Far’ee, Surgery Consultant, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Tumors at the SQCCCRC, said, “The centre seeks to collect patient data in an advanced, integrated and regularized manner to help build a database that can be utilized later in scientific studies.”
Besides contributing to scholarly research, the Registry is aimed at utilizing the outcome of studies to improve patient care, he added.
Al Far’ee pointed out that the collection of patient data will be undertaken in a confidential process that ensures non-sharing of such data. The processing of data in the Registry will be made only after the approval of the patient, he affirmed.
