Muscat: Oman Arab Bank (OAB) recently announced the appointment of Hamza Moosa Baqer as Chief Audit Executive, as of August 1.

Commenting on the appointment, Rashad Al Musafir, the CEO of OAB, said, “Hamza Moosa Baqer has extensive experience across various major organisations, in key positions over the last two decades. Working in internal auditing has helped him build a robust experience in the field, alongside having expertise across other areas, including corporate governance, risk management and compliance.  His expertise and hard work earned him previous positions on Board Audit Committees and we believe that he will bring a high degree of proficiency to OAB.”

“On behalf of the Board of Directors of Oman Arab Bank and members of the executive management, I am pleased to welcome Hamza as a new OAB family member and wish him the best of luck and success in his new position,” Rashad added.

Commenting on his appointment at Oman Arab Bank, Hamza Moosa Baqer said, “I believe that this is truly a unique opportunity and the next step of my career. Internal Audit is an important component of corporate governance and supports the development of an effective organisational strategy. I am delighted to be a part of this dedicated team and look forward to working with them. Together, we can collectively align the objectives of the bank to position it at the forefront of the banking industry.”

Hamza has over 20 years of experience in internal auditing and has held key positions across several major entities. Previously working as the Group Chief Internal Auditor for the Electricity Holding Company ‘Nama Holding’, he was responsible for consolidating all internal audit functions of subsidiary companies into a centralised function and streamlining internal audit operations.

Hamza is a Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors and holds a BSc. with Honours in Computers and Internet Applications from Majan College (University College) and possesses several relevant professional certificates.
