Muscat: The Ministry of Education (MOE) issued a circular on the operation of private schools, international and international community schools for the academic year 2020-2021.
The International community schools with a very high density, with a student population of 3,000 or more, will be operated by a blended education system from 30 pecent to 70 percent of the number of students, according to the school’s capacity in terms of its material and human capabilities.
Speaking to the Observer, a top source at the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, said, “We are waiting for a final communique on the Ministry of Education, following which the details will be shared with parents. We are also talking with school management to find out their preparedness for restarting the conventional school.”
He added that students aged 12 years and above are given free vaccination by the Ministry of Health in coordination with the Ministry of Education.
With reference to the decision of the Supreme Committee on Covid 19, it was decided that the operation of private schools as per the following terms:
Private and international schools with grades from early education to sixth grade: It will be operated by the direct education system 100 percent so that the student density is calculated on the basis of an area (2 square meters) for each student out of the total area of the classroom.
As for schools with a high student density, they operate in a blended education system, week by week, 50 percent.
Private and international schools with grades (7-11)
It will be operated by the direct education system 100 percent so that the student density is calculated on the basis of an area (1.5 m) for each student out of the total area of the classroom.
As for schools with a high student density, they operate in a blended education system, week by week, 50 percent.
Grade 12 in private schools
Class 12 in private and international schools is operated by a 100 percent direct education system so that the student density is calculated on the basis of an area of (1.5 m) per student from the total area of the classroom.
Students of special education
As for private and international schools that have special education students, they are operated by the direct education system by 100%, while adhering to precautionary health controls, and reducing student density in the classrooms.
