Muscat: The University of Nizwa has registered a patent for a treatment of inflammatory bowel disease that uses Budesonide.
A potent anti-inflammatory steroid, Budesonide is used commonly in inhalers to treat asthma and other pulmonary disorders. It is believed that it could also help treat diarrhoea-predominant IBS.
“The research team has made use of nanotechnology to develop the treatment,” Oman News Agency added in a statement.
