Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) called upon all sectors to devise clear-cut policies for intellectual property rights and guide their research establishments before filing for any such rights.
The ministry underscored this procedure to secure the rights of all parties. The National Office for Intellectual Property Rights of the ministry affirmed that any successful establishment would take steps to augment its cognitive repertoire through research and through the protection of its resources by regulating its relationship with other parties (like workers or affiliate students or staff members who single-handedly carry out their projects).
The ministry added that the policies of property rights determine the exclusive owner, the beneficiaries of such rights and what is wholly or partly available among the establishment’s instruments since research and development require the use of an establishment’s facilities, equipment or other resources.
