Muscat: The Environment Authority and Nama Group on Wednesday signed a memorandum of cooperation to allocate OMR100,000 as a contribution for the national initiative to plant 10 million trees. The MoC was signed by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Eng. Omar Khalfan Al Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group.
Dr. Al Amri affirmed in a statement that the authority and the departments concerned have set a plan to press ahead with the initiative. Therefore, the greenhouses were expanded and new ones were established and provided with seeds from the recently established seed bank, added Dr. Al Amri, who pointed out that community and formal teams were formed to collect these seeds from various types of wild trees in the Sultanate as well as organising farming campaigns in selected sites.
The agreement states that Nama Group allocates OMR100,000 of its social responsibility funding to support farming projects and initiatives; in addition to contributing with quantities of treated water from its sewage plants for five years which will cover a number of governorates.
