Muscat: Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, on Thursday said it is not recommended to take a third dose of the covid-19 vaccine. He was addressing the media during the 26th press conference of the Supreme Committee.

- Two deaths and 101 new infections with the Coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours, and the recovery rate increased to 96.5%
- The number of Covid-19 doses that the Sultanate has reserved so far exceeds 8,570,000 doses
- Vaccines prevent the severity of the disease, reduce the rate of hospitalization and reduce deaths, but they do not prevent transmission of the virus.
- There are countries where the vaccination rate has reached 80%, but the infections have returned
- It is not recommended to take the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the WHO
- After some countries decided to give the vaccine to those aged 6 years and over, we have decided to reserve additional doses.
- A significant decrease in the number of inpatients and those in ICUs. Precautionary measures still needed despite the high rate of vaccination
- The number of Covid-19 doses that the Sultanate has received so far is over 3,950,000
- Vaccination is not mandatory but it is our duty to protect the society
- Eight vaccines were approved in the Sultanate, including Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, and Sputnik
