MENA Energy Meet to focus on green hydrogen, energy transition

The 2nd MENA Energy Meet – a two-day virtual expo and summit – begins today, August 30, 2021, under the auspices of Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

The event, organised by Muscat Expo in association with White Paper Summits, will cover a broad array of topics encompassing, among other themes, green hydrogen, energy transition and energy security, digital transformation, critical infrastructure protection and cyber-security, wind energy and floating solar, storage technologies, decarbonisation and GHG emissions accounting, carbon capture utilisation, circular carbon economy, and low carbon refining.

A distinguished roster of speakers, representing some of the most prestigious energy-related institutions, will be presenting during the two-day forum.

The line-up includes: Anna Shpitsberg, Deputy Assistant Secretary – Bureau of Energy Resources, US Department of State; Dr Abderrezak Benyoucef, Head – Energy Studies Department, OPEC; Dmitry Sokolov, Head of Energy Economics and Forecasting, Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF); Eng Wael Hamed Abdel Moati, Gas Industries Expert, Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting countries (OAPEC); and James Grabert, Director – Mitigation Division & Acting Director – Communication and Engagement Division, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Presenting from Oman are Abdulrahman al Yahaei, CEO – OPAL; Nasser Saif Nasser al Mahrooqi, Petroleum Digital Center Manager, Petroleum Development Oman; and Claudia Vergueiro Massei, CEO – Siemens Oman; and Hassan Abdul Ali, General Manager, Service Delivery & PMO, Oman Data Park.

Leading organisations from the wider region will be represented as well.

The list includes Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP), OPEC Fund for International Development, IHS Markit, ENGIE, Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (Masen), OGCI Climate Investments, Energy Industries Council, Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI Emirates), Dii Desert Energy, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), Port of Rotterdam, World Ocean Council, Marsh, OSGP Alliance, 247Solar, Inc, TotalEnergies, and Wartsila Gulf FZE, among others.
