Fisheries Development Oman honours representatives at Arab Parliament for the Child honoured

Muscat: Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) has recently welcomed the Sultanate of Oman’s representatives at the Arab Parliament for the Child and briefed them on the specialised food security projects in the field of fisheries as well as the local and international investment opportunities that aim at empowering a global, profitable and sustainable fishing sector.

Eng. Nabil Salim Al Bimani, GCEO of FDO, said: “We are pleased with the Sultanate of Oman’s representatives at the Arab Parliament for the Child are honoured for their distinction after being awarded the Diploma in Parliament skills, Grade Excellent (with honours).

Al Bimani added, “The visit aimed to educate them about the company’s efforts towards food security in the Sultanate of Oman’s and the latest technologies in the field of aquaculture, as well as preparing a leading generation that has the knowledge.”

He further explained that, “The Sultanate of Oman benefited from its geographical location and its long, diverse coasts that have all required success enablers for such kind of projects.”

Al Bimani stressed, “The company gives priority to supporting and enabling the private sector and specialised companies to invest in the aquaculture sector and utilise promising investment opportunities in this vital sector, which in turn would bring significant financial and economic returns.”

The students visited the Blue Waters Company, one of Fisheries Development Oman subsidiaries, to have an idea about the latest technologies that contribute to realising the national targets relating to sustainability and food security.

It is worth mentioning that the Sultanate of Oman representatives participated in the fourth and closing sitting of the second session of the Arab Parliament for the Child on food security.

It is important to note that Arab Parliament for the Child, one of the Arab League’s institutions, is a regional organisation in which each member state in the Arab League is represented by four children, boys and girls.

Its permanent headquarters is located in Sharjah, UAE.
