Muscat: In a step to support efforts exerted by the State of Qatar to host FIFA World Cup 2022, the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) will carry out a programme dedicated for Qatar World Cup 2022.
Expected to promote Muscat as a major and approved city to receive the World Cup fans, the programme’s details were unveiled in a press conference held on Wednesday by MHT to reveal the Sultanate’s readiness to carry out the multi-activities programme in cooperation with various government and private agencies and institutions.
The competent authorities taking part in the programme said those with a Hayya card can apply for a visa online or on arrival at ports, confirming that hotel bookings are needed.
During the conference, it was stressed that special match day shuttle flights will operate to the Old Doha Airport with economy ticket fares of RO99 for fans.
Specific gates will be allocated for World Cup flights along with bus terminals.
Officials operating the WC programme said a FIFA village would be established at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC).
“Hayya card is mandatory for visiting Qatar”, they noted.
