Unvaccinated expats can come to Oman

Muscat: Non-Omanis working in the Sultanate, holders of valid residency, employees and workers in government units and private sector establishments who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine can come to Oman, Government Communication Centre (GC) said.

A statement issued online by GC said: “Starting September 1, 2021, travellers who are coming to the Sultanate will have to receive two doses of one of the vaccines approved in the Sultanate, which are Pfizer Bionic, Oxford AstraZeneca, Sputnik Sinovac, Moderna, Sinopharma, Cofshield AstraZeneca, or one dose of Johnson’s vaccine, provided that 14 days have passed since receiving the last dose of the vaccine before the scheduled date of arrival in the Sultanate.” The GC took into account the following categories:

1. Omani citizens and their families who are outside the Sultanate and who did not receive the vaccine.

2. Non-Omanis working in the Sultanate with valid residency permits of employees and workers in government units and private sector establishments who have taken only one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Sultanate and were unable to obtain the second dose in their countries.

3. Non-Omanis working in the Sultanate, holders of valid residency, employees and workers in government units and private sector establishments who have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine.

People who are allowed to return to the Sultanate must adhere to all protocols that are in place. These include undergoing polymerization test for COVID-19 PCR before arrival, wearing electronic tracking bracelet and adhering to the home quarantine (for Omanis) and the institutional quarantine (for non-Omanis) for a period of seven days and polymerase re-examination of Covid-19 PCR on the eighth day, the statement added.
