SDGs 2030 a vital part of Oman Vision 2040

Muscat: The Ministry of Economy organised the first seminar on drafting the second voluntary national review on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030) of the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Saqri said that the seminar comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation and integration with partners in the public and private sectors to report the progress made in achieving the SDGs 2030.

On his turn, Dr. Nasser Rashid Al Ma’awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, said that significant progress has been made in achieving the SDGs since Oman submitted its first voluntary national review in 2019.

Al Ma’awali added that Oman is keen to abide with its international obligation of achieving the SDGs by 2030 by integrating the SDGs with national policies, initiatives and programmes.

He pointed out that the SDGs 2030 became a main component of the Five-year Development Plans and Oman Vision 2040.

Al Ma’awali said that Oman, represented by the Ministry of Economy, is preparing to draft the second voluntary national review, which will be submitted at the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) session in 2023.

Intisar Abdullah Al Wahibi, Director of the Five-year Development Plan project, Director of Development at the Ministry of Economy, gave a presentation on the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in achieving the SDGs 2030.

The seminar involved participation of representatives of the State Council, Shura Council, government units, private sector and non-governmental organization (NGOs), as well as academic institutions and regional and international organizations concerned.
