UAE media highlights President’s visit to Oman

The UAE media has underlined the importance of the visit of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, to the Sultanate of Oman on the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The Al Bayan newspaper said that the two leaders will discuss strengthening cooperation and joint coordination in various economic, commercial, investment, cultural and development fields, and pushing them forward to meet the aspirations of the two countries and achieve their goals for sustainable development.

It added that relations between countries are strongly rooted at family and community levels while economic relations have only strengthened under the leadership of Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The UAE media have added after the establishment of the United Arab Emirates Federation in 1971, many agreements have been signed between the two countries.

The visit of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan to the Sultanate of Oman in 1991 resulted in the formation of the Oman-UAE Joint Supreme Committee for Cooperation and Coordination. The two countries also signed more than 20 agreements and memoranda of understanding in the fields of air services and international road transport for passengers and goods.

Reports suggested UAE is one of the most important trading partners of the Sultanate of Oman with the volume of non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman last year was 46 billion AED, a growth of 9 per cent compared to 2020.

The two countries are working to enhance sectors such as the energy sector, renewable energy, financial services, logistical support, construction, real estate, and entrepreneurship.

The statement wrote that the total non-oil trade between the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman during the period from 2012 to 2021 amounted to more than 362 billion AED, recording a growth rate of 98.9 per cent to reach 46.5 billion AED by the end of 2021, compared to 23.4 billion AED at the end of 2012.
