Oman-Jordan trade exchange at RO 211.3 m

MUSCAT: The volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan registered RO 211.3 million over the past five years. Trade exchange between the two countries registered RO 61.8 million in 2021, with Jordanian exports to Oman recording an increase of RO 35.5 million while its imports from Oman amounted to RO 26.4 million including RO 22.6 million from non-oil products and RO 3.7 million from re-exportation.

Over the past five years, the volume of Omani exports to Jordan recorded RO 102.3 million with non-oil exports accounting for RO 80.6 million and re-export RO 14.6 million.

Marble, organic chemicals, fish and crustaceans are among the most important non-oil exports from Jordan to the Sultanate of Oman.

The total value of goods imported to Oman from Jordan registered RO 108.9 million over the past five year. They include fruits and vegetables, medicines, carpets, chemical fertilizers, stone products, cement, plastics, equipment and machinery.

Trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Jordan is growing steadily as both countries are opening channels for investments and commercial projects. The volume of trade exchange has registered RO 22.3 million at the first half of 2022 with Oman’s imports from Jordan recording RO 15.5 million while its exports to Jordan amounted to RO 6.7 per cent.

The Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have a keenness on boosting investments and economic cooperation not only between them but also with neighbouring countries. Over the past number of years, both countries sought to allocate vast areas within the industrial and commercial zones to foreign investments. As a result, fruits and vegetables were placed among the most important imports to the Sultanate of Oman. Likewise, Omani fish and marble products are considered the most important exports of the Sultanate of Oman to Jordan.

The number of Jordanian firms registered in the Sultanate of Oman by end-2021 was 621 firms including 271 commercial companies with a total investor capital of $150.6 million. Service companies came second registering 129 companies with a total investor capital of $121.9 million.
