Muscat: The total subscriptions of fixed phone associated with the Internet Protocol technology increased by 11.8 per cent while the total subscription of fixed Internet service in the Sultanate amounted to 517, 512 at the end of July 2021, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The total subscribers of fixed phone lines amounted to 590,045 till the end of July 2021, an increase of 1.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.
The subscriptions of digital networks channel lines for integrated services decreased by 2.2 per cent to stand at 49,092 while the fixed wireless subscriptions decreased by 14.3 per cent to reach 1260.
The number of public phones subscriptions stood at 6,801 and the total subscriptions of mobile phones decreased by 2.7 per cent to 5, 893,951 as at end of July 2021. The majority of mobile phone subscriptions were from prepaid mobile phones; a total of 4,708, 174 subscriptions.
The broad band fixed service total subscriptions (256 kilobyte/second) amounted to 515, 468 an increase of 5.5 per cent by end of July 2021 compared to the corresponding period in 2020 at the time the low speed Internet subscriptions (less that 256 kilobytes/second ) amounted to 2,044, an increase of 0.9 per cent against the same period 2020.
The active broad band internet for mobile phones amounted to over 5.024 million at the end of July 2021 while the total Internet capacity amounted to over 1.451 million megabytes, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.
