Green shoots of recovery seen in tourism sector

Muscat: There have been encouraging indicators for the recovery of the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman and a number of projects that are entering advanced stages of implementation. These projects will add diversity, opportunities and experiences that enhance intertwining and integration with the rest of the sectors. This was stated by His Excellency Salem Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

His Excellency the Minister said: “Plans and development of public utilities are currently being implemented in a number of governorates with the support and partnership of Amram Company, while promising quality projects with foreign investments continue according to the approved programmes and more in that direction will be disclosed.”

The minister explained that one of the projects that is currently being worked on is the Al Buraimi Talalat project, which aims to provide hospitality, recreation and entertainment facilities, to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience for visitors and a number of other tourism products. Work is also underway on the project to develop Al-Abaila Park in Al Buraimi, which costs 700,000 riyals.

In Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, work is underway on the Nizwa Gate development project, which will include interactive platforms and digital panels to introduce the unique material and cultural history of the governorate.

In Al Dhahirah Governorate, His Excellency clarified that work is currently underway on three projects, namely the Atalaa Ibri project, the Yanqul Rest House development project, and the Dhank Rest House development project, with a total cost of more than 2 million.
