Muscat: The Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit is joining hands with the departments concerned to carry out the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to set up special offices in government units to enable these departments to play their role in achieving the objectives of the vision.
Dr Khamis Saif al Jabri, Chairman of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the Royal directives to establish the Vision’s Implementation Follow-up Offices were aimed at ensuring that all the departments concerned would shoulder their responsibility in realizing the vision.
Al Jabri added that several meetings were held by the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit in cooperation with the departments concerned to establish and activate the “Vision Offices” at government establishments. The offices will ensure precise follow-up of executive plans necessary for the realization of the Vision’s performance indicators at government departments, manage follow-up mechanisms, analyse and address the challenges.
Earlier, the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit worked in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour to develop a model for the “Vision Offices” and their systems of functioning as they embark on transferring knowledge, developing necessary programmes and addressing the common challenges.
The Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit also held workshops on knowledge transfer at the “Vision Offices” at government departments, in addition to launching capacity building and skills development programme. The workshops covered the preparation of grounds of action at the departments concerned to help activate those offices.
Other matters discussed during the workshops included consensus on the mechanisms of follow-up and programmes support. This is in addition to augmenting the levels of readiness at government departments concerned through training on methodologies and the model of initiatives, determining targets and developing performance indicators. The workshops were attended by the staff of 40 government departments, from a total of 59 target units.
The “Vision Offices” will make the planning departments in the units concerned to be more attached to the Vision Indicators, its objectives and national programmes. It will build a working team that is capable of shouldering the missions of planning and coordinating with the institutions concerned to secure performance quality. The offices will constitute a link between the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow up Unit and the government departments. They will also add speed, accuracy and support to the whole process.
