Muscat: New lamp posts installed along the road to Muttrah Souq have enhanced the beauty and glory of this age-old tourist marketplace.

The lampposts are designed in three distinct sections. The bottom part is cylindrical in shape with blue light emanating from it while the middle portion is flat like fish emitting a radiant yellow.
The middle part has been given the shape of the entry gate to Muttrah Souq. The LED lights atop these lampposts disperse white light all around.
When asked about his opinion on lamp posts, Afzal Khan, an expat living in the area, said: “All praise to the municipality for doing this wonderful work. This has definitely enhanced the charm of this traditional market. The insignia of Muttrah Souq entry gate on poles definitely magnifies the greatness of this market. For people like me, this has become an added attraction.”
Another good news for tourists visiting the Souq area is the creation of new parking lots beside the road.
Earlier, dearth of parking spaces had led to huge jams in the area, especially during festivals. Long queues of cars could be seen from a distance winding down the road beyond Souq.
But additional parking slots have been created much to the relief of motorists by reducing the size of dividers between the roads. With ample space available, motorists can easily park their vehicle and enjoy hassle-free shopping in Muttrah Souq. Even parking spaces along the sidewalks have been marked so that vehicles are stationed in an orderly manner.
Undoubtedly, all these measures have enhanced the aesthetic splendour of Muttrah Souq.
