This species has not been registered in Omani waters before along the Arabian Sea, the Sea of Oman and the Arab Gulf.
Muscat: The Marine Science and Fisheries Centre at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources detected the existence of the “spotted rhino” fish in Sifah, Muscat Governorate.
The fish was caught by an Omani fisherman named Hussein bin Ali Al Naabi.
The centre pointed out that this species has not been registered in Omani waters before along the Arabian Sea, the Sea of Oman and the Arab Gulf. The fish was 39 cm long and it weighed 627 grammes.
