CAIRO: The Council of Oman took part in the meetings of the standing committees and the second session of the third annual convening of the Third Legislative Term of the Arab Parliament which were held in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
The meetings debated several issues pertaining to pan-Arab coordination, ways to boost joint Arab parliamentary action, as well as the most prominent challenges facing joint action and ways to overcome them. Besides, the session reviewed the reports of the standing committees and made suitable decisions.
Dr Hassan bin Ali al Madhani took part in the meeting of the Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee which discussed the political and security developments in the Arab world and reviewed the draft report of the political situation in the Arab world.
Majlis Ash’shura was represented at the meetings by Shaikh Said bin Hamad al Saadi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, and Hameed bin Ali al Nasseri.
The agenda of the Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee included the Algiers Declaration issued at the 31st the Arab League Summit held in Algeria in November this year. The declaration included: the Palestinian cause, the situation in the Arab world, enhancing joint Arab action, relations with neighbouring countries and partnerships and international situations.
Shaikh Ali bin Nasser al Mahrouqi participated in the meeting of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee. The committee approved a number of proposals which included: a proposal to protect the Arabic language, a proposal for the Arab family in sports affairs, and the divorce phenomenon and reluctance to marry.
