Muscat – A full field of almost 100 golfers gathered for what will be an annual Cancer Awareness golf event at the Ras Al Hamra Golf Club recently.
The event was hosted by Ras Al Hamra Golf Club in association with Milly’s Golf Society.
Ras Al Hamra Golf Club Lady Captain Elana Pienaar has been a driving force behind the inspiration of this event and shared that, “Sadly, cancer is a disease that is all too familiar, many of us have either suffered directly or know someone who has; if this event saves just one life then it is worth all of the effort”.
The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) had arranged for the mobile mammography unit to be located at the golf club car park to provide opportunities for and promote free of charge screening.
A total of OMR4,000 were raised and donated to the Oman Cancer Association. This money will be used to support the Mobile Mammography Unit in providing free breast cancer screening for women over the age of 40.
In addition to a general raffle for multiple prizes, there was a silent auction for our 5 Star Prizes for overnight stays at Anantara Jabal Akhdar Resort, Anantara Al Baleed Resort and Al Bustan Ritz Carlton.
Club Captain, Simon Walker shared that, “This event has brought together our golfing community for a very worthwhile cause. On behalf of Ras Al Hamra Golf Club, we express our thanks to everyone involved who inspired and organised this event, including our Lady Captain Elana, Lance Scott from Milly’s Golf Society. Sponsors have been extremely generous and gracious in their donations for such a worthwhile cause”.
